We understand just how important our beloved pets and companions are to us.  They are not just a pet, but a loved member of the family.  We have all lost very loved pets, and understand the pain and grief that comes with this loss.

Cherry Tree Gentle Farewells will look to revolutionise the entire euthanasia experience, by ensuring a homely, private and peaceful setting for owners to spend final moments with their pet in our bespoke clinic, or in their own home.

Cherry Tree Gentle Farewells is an independent, family-run end-of-life veterinary practice, attached to a well-respected independent pet crematorium in the heart of Kent.

Cherry Tree Gentle Farewells was started in November 2020, initially just providing compassionate home euthanasia for dogs and cats, and now home visits and in-clinic euthanasia. We have built a bespoke building, solely for end-of-life care which opened in February 2022. We are looking to revolutionise the entire experience by creating a homely, private and peaceful setting for owners to spend their final moments with their pets.

The rooms have comfortable seating, soft lighting, and views across open fields. They also have private gardens should owners wish to be outside to say goodbye on sunny days. This experience is focused on owners and their pets.

There are no crowded waiting rooms, no steel consult tables and as much time as needed to say goodbye. Each client will have the sole use of the consultation room, which is designed specifically for end of life care, rather than being a multipurpose, clinical space like that of a conventional surgery. The room benefits from comfortable seating, soft lighting, and views across open fields. Both consult rooms will have their very own private garden should owners wish to be outside with their pets on sunny days.

The experience is focused specifically around the owners and their pets.  The surgery will be solely used for end of life care and gentle euthanasia. There will not be any need to face a crowded waiting room, or the stress of contending with a short window to see their pet for the final time. Home visits or euthanasia’s in the clinic take 45mins – 1 hour

Organisation Aims & Mission

Our ethos is about quality of service and bereavement support, with only 2-4 appointments daily.

  • To provide a gentle, dignified and peaceful euthanasia service, that is not rushed and allows the owner the time they need to say goodbye to their pet family member
  • To enable the pet to pass away peacefully, they are always sedated prior to the final injection.

  • Friendly team
  • We are all compassionate about animal and client care
  • Lovely cakes baked by Sandra our receptionist!
  • Brand new, beautiful clinic, in a lovely setting
  • Non-clinical, homely rooms with sofa’s and rugs with a small garden attached to each consult room
  • Nestled in the glorious Kent countryside, with great dog walking opportunities
  • Located close to Ashford and Folkestone/Dover, meaning can get to London within an hour and Calais within an hour and 45 minutes by train or one hour by ferry
  • Only one hour travel to Gatwick

“I have worked in veterinary general practice as a receptionist for over 20 years.

The verbal abuse I would receive increased and occurred on a regular basis. Here at Cherry Tree Gentle Farewells, life is so much better. Although we are dealing with upset clients everyday, it is a pleasure to be there for them, offering a sympathetic ear and trying to help them through a hard time.

No verbal abuse, just gratitude for understanding and listening. I now go home feeling like I have made a difference.” – Sandra Cherry, Receptionist

We are looking for a compassionate and caring vet for our dedicated companion animal euthanasia service.

The right vet needs to be confident working on their own, and alongside our experienced vets. You need to be a strong advocate for best practice to provide a peaceful and dignified passing, have empathy and have good client communication skills.

Able to drive, and willing to perform euthanasia at home and in our bespoke clinic on their own.

Ideally, be able to work 4 days a week and 1 in 2 Saturdays, but flexible hours is considered
