Organisational background

Innovia Technology is a friendly Cambridge-based innovation consultancy with a focus on work-life balance.

We work in multidisciplinary teams to understand, create and problem-solve for some of the world’s biggest global companies. Clients like Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, The North Face, Pfizer, KraftHeinz, Johnson & Johnson, and Jaguar Land Rover trust us to help them invent the future.

Our approach is holistic: we integrate the knowledge of experts in different fields to gain unique and well-rounded insights. This means our project teams assemble people from theoretical physics, plant science, manufacturing engineering, organic chemistry, microbiology, product design, veterinary surgery, public health (and many more) to work together and rigorously apply their specialist training to complex real-world problems.

No two projects are the same. Consultants attack problems in industries from energy and fuel, to food, clothing, transport, medical devices and consumer goods - allowing you to gain a broad insight into a variety of sectors and topics.

Organisation aims & mission

Innovia Technology’s mission is to enable our clients to outperform their competitors and change the world for good through breakthrough innovation. We aim to be the best front-end innovation partner.

We measure our success by the strength of the relationships we build, many spanning decades, and 80% of our business is repeat business for clients with whom we have built exceptional trust and lasting partnerships.

We aim to provide the three F's for our employees: fun, fulfillment and finance. We treat people fairly, and deeply value the diversity which makes innovation possible.

As a core part of our mission, we aspire to help the world meet net zero quickly, and our greatest contribution to this is by helping our global clients meet their social, environmental, and sustainability goals.

We take ethical considerations into account as we decide which projects to work on and which to avoid. It's possible for any employee to privately express a concern they may have about a potential project to the CEO - who judges which projects we should avoid. In the past, we have avoided or declined projects which don’t fit with Innovia’s core values.

Innovia has a unique culture of close collaboration in a relaxed office atmosphere supported by flexible and hybrid working, free daily buffet lunch, casual dress code, free parking, comprehensive training programs, a buddy scheme, individual welcome meeting with the CEO, enhanced parental leave options, and a mentoring style of line management.

We number around 85 Innovians - so you'll get to know everyone, and work with most other consultants.

Our strong emphasis on maintaining work-life balance, and friendly and casual office culture, suits someone who is as passionate and motivated about their work as they are about the rest of their life.

We look for strong academics and solid understanding of the fundamental principles of your discipline, the ability to apply what you know to unfamiliar situations and bring structured thinking to unstructured problems, wide curiosity, creative problem-solving, confident communication skills, and the ability to collaborate well with a team.

Vets at Innovia must have excellent recall and understanding of broad life-science/biomedical principles alongside clinical training: from anatomy and physiology to nutrition, diagnostics, pharmacology, medical imaging, and surgical techniques.

You don’t need to have any prior experience in consulting or innovation, but you should have an interest in working with clients and the commercial world.
