Pennard Vets has been around for 125 years, but don’t let that make you think we are old-fashioned. We combine our intuition and intelligent innovation to deliver the very best pet care.

In 2020 we beat back the call of the corporate drum and became employee-owned. This means every employee has a stake in the company. We encourage our team members to have a voice and come up with new ideas!

The core of Pennard Vets is to provide progressive pet care and a workplace where the team can thrive 💪.

We believe that every pet deserves the right care, in the right way, at the right time, and in a sustainable way.

We believe in:

  • Doing what is right.
  • Keeping it simple.
  • Being clear and honest.
  • Explaining with clarity and compassion.
  • Empowering insight and information.
  • Supporting people in their personal and professional growth.

Our values are important to us and are embodied by every team member.

  • Client focus:
We invest our energy and experience in a way that is right for them. This is lived in so many different ways. Recently, one of our team even lent a client a tow rope after she crashed her car, meaning she was able to get her car home.
  • Compassion:
We are sensitive to the wants and needs of the client, their pet, and each other. Our favourite way that we live this value is the creation of a “candle and sign” system to let people coming into the practice know that a euthanasia is taking place. This ensures the waiting room stays quiet and calm for those grieving.
  • Continuous Improvement:
We never stop exploring new and better ways to care for clients and their pets. We have an ongoing willingness to explore fresh ideas, learn new skills, and continue to innovate. This is lived by our organisation with the continuous improvement board on which staff members fill out cards with suggestions on how to improve things and we discuss these and put them into action.
  • Clarity:
We keep it simple. We speak clearly and honestly to each other and our clients.
  • The support and encouragement of the team. We believe in having good people. Everyone has something to teach and something to learn. Due to the nature of this, we have been able to allow people to grow with us and to progress into further education, such as completing certificates and extra qualifications. We have also offered people the opportunity to diversify but stay with the practice.
  • We have an amazing, varied workload as well as having visiting specialists in cardiology, dermatology, orthopaedic surgery, ultrasound, and internal medicine.
  • The care we have for what we do doesn’t stop when we walk outside our practices or close the door at home. Our team is passionate about doing our bit to make the world a better place, and we have a range of initiatives to make this a reality.
  • We are a member of VetBees: turning all of our outdoor spaces and flat roof areas into wildflower gardens to encourage nature to thrive.
  • We generate our own medical-grade oxygen on-site, recycle cat food pouches, and only use biodegradable cat litter. Much of the industry is only just catching up with a switch to low-flow anaesthesia, which we made over a decade ago.
  • There’s so much more that we do, big and small, for no other reason than it’s the right thing to do. We like to think that’s a reflection of our approach to caring for our patients too!

Someone who embodies our values, is a team player, and who wants to be supported whilst finding somewhere they can grow!
