Red Kite Veterinary Consultants was founded in 2008 by two veterinary surgeons. We are now a team of 10 vets and 3 animal technicians, with three additional academic team members working on an ad hoc basis. We act as Named Veterinary Surgeons to a number of academic and pharmaceutical research establishments in the South of England. We also deliver a range of training courses to research personnel.

We are a female-led company: our Director is a mum-of three and all our senior team are women, but of course we welcome applications from anyone!

In order to achieve our mission, we strive to adhere to these values:

  • Integrity: we will make sure that we do the right thing, always
  • Expertise: we will ensure that our experience is backed up with relevant up-to-date knowledge
  • Professionalism: We will maintain the competence and skills expected in our professions
  • Flexibility: We will tailor our services to meet the needs of our customers
  • Excellence: We will deliver to the best of our abilities at all times

Red Kite vets is a family where we all look out for each other. Every Red Kite vet knows that they can 100% rely on all the others.

Our team are all self-motivating and high-achieving individuals with a passion for improving animal welfare. We are confident, outgoing and analytical, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others. We have to be able to work as part of a team as well as individually, and know that we can rely on each other.

We also like to have fun and enjoy our work, so a good sense of humour is essential!

Being a working parent myself, as Director I was determined to provide an environment which supported my team members to be able both to develop in their chosen career and fulfil their family commitments. Flexible working conditions allow team members to work at home much of the time, at hours when it suits them, allowing the flexibility to attend those all important parents' evenings and sports days.

Our working conditions are very flexible. We all work from home, many of the team are part time or work compressed weeks, and we can often do our work at hours that suit us.

We are a disability confident employer and offer interviews automatically to any applicants that fulfil the essential selection criteria.

Working from home minimises the need for travel. All company vehicles are electric.

New people are initially mentored by an experienced team member, and the company structure offers the potential for team members to progress into a mentoring/management role as they gain in experience. Everyone is encouraged to develop their skills in the area that interests them.
